Facilities Operation Management and Critical Operations

Critical Industries

When you think about the national infrastructure, there are probably quite a few systems or organizations that you consider absolutely crucial for the safety, security, and continued prosperity of the nation. They are imperative for the day-to-day operations of a nation, and they need to work seamlessly together. In this module, you will identify those elements of Critical Operations and the possible threats that put those operations at risk.

Power Fundamentals

Generator-Provided Power

Uninterruptible Power Supplies

Batteries

Utility-Source Power

Alternative Power Sources

When it comes to the essentials that are needed to keep a critical facility up and running, power is more than likely the top priority. As a critical facility operator, you will need to have a strong understanding of the fundamentals of power itself and all of the various sources of energy that can provide power to your critical facility. In this module, you will identify and describe the fundamental concepts related to power and the power sources that are relevant to Critical Operations.

Medium vs. Low Voltage Systems

Redundancy and Power Supply Transfer

Power Distribution Topologies

Electrical Protection

Power Distribution Preventative Maintenance

From the simple components—like the lights and heat in its people spaces—to the more complex, critical components—like the cooling equipment in a data center—nearly every component within a critical facility relies on a steady source of power or is directly affected by one that does. For this reason, supplying and managing electricity to all critical equipment is the primary focus of Critical Operations.

Critical Facility: Power Supply Management Assessment

Learn about critical operations focusing on the supply and management of electricity for critical equipment.

Critical Facility: Power Supply Management

This free online Critical Facility course will teach you about the safe and efficient maintenance and management of power supply systems. All of society relies heavily on electrical power and power supply facilities to live their lives and manage their operations. This free online course will teach you about power supplies, power distribution systems, and distribution preventative measures in clearly and effectively.

Introduction to Robotics

Evolution of Robotics

Classification of Robots and Rehabilitation Robotics

Manipulator Kinematics

Homogeneous Transformation

In this module, you will learn about the fundamentals of robotics. You will be taught about the various applications of Robotics, along with the history and laws of robotics. The classification of Robots will be discussed, highlighting industrial and rehabilitation robotics. Manipulator Kinematics, which is about object location and motion, will be covered, along with transformation matrices and homogeneous transformations.

Learn how the evolution of robotics has impacted and improved our living, in this free online course

Introduction to the Evolution of Robotics

Starting with the various applications of robotics, you will also get into the history and laws of robotics. You will learn about the classification of robots, along with the uses of industrial and rehabilitation robotics. Object location and motion, technically referred to as ‘manipulator kinematics,’ will also be covered. The details of transformation matrices and homogeneous transformations will provide the basic technical concept.

Haptics

Haptic Devices and Interfaces

In this module, you will learn about haptics. This module covers touch, or more generally, the somatosensory system. This includes physiology, perception and engineering technology that stimulates the somatosensory system. You will be taught tactile receptor types, sensitivity threshold of mechanoreceptors and the kinesthetic system. Furthermore, you will be shown various haptic devices that enable manual interaction with virtual environments and how the haptic feedback technology works.

Audio

This module will cover audio for VR. You will be taught the physics of sound in terms of waves, propagation and frequency analysis. Furthermore, you will be shown the parts of the human ear and their function. After this, learners will gain an understanding of the concept of auditory perception. You will learn about auditory rendering, which can produce sounds synthetically from models or reproduce captured sounds.

Interfaces
